交际英语与英美人的文化背景、风俗习惯有密切的联系。如果同学们对这些背景知识有所了解，对掌握某些习惯用语有好处。

考查交际英语的目的不是通过对话来考查语法规则的运用，而是要考查在特定的交际场合下，人们所习惯使用的一些表达方式。

高考考题解析

[考题1](nmet典型例题 —what about havinga drink?

a．good idea b．help yourself c．goahead，please d．me，too

[解析]对方提出一种想法，让你表态，选项a是一种表态。help yourself常在对方提出借用某物时的一种许可答复；go ahead，please也表示许可， “去做吧”；me，too用的情形较多，表示“我也如此”。

[考题2](nmet典型例题 —waiter!

—i can't eat this．it's too salty．

a．yes，sir? b．what?

c all right? d．pardon?

[解析]waiter!是一种呼唤形式，就情景本身而言，对话的语势很强，说话人很不客气，原因是：i can't eat this．it's too salty．这是客人抱怨饭菜太咸。

pardon?是在需要谈话对方重复未听清的话语时使用的表达形式。

what?是在需要谈话对方部分重复某些措词时经常使用的表达方式。相当于中文的“什么”可是，恰恰是这点很可能构成对考生的误导。

all right?是明显不符合本题情景的选项。yes,sir?是waiter对客人的应承语，而且其中包含着“你有事吗？”“你有会么事”一类的意思。

[解析]句意是：“我在这座楼房里养宠物你介意吗?”“事实上，我宁愿你不养。”would rather后接从句时，从句要用一般过去时，表示宁愿某人干某事。选项d中的no，如果变成yes，那就表示介意，与下文的you can't就一致了。
