some soldiers arrived in france for the first time, neither of whom could speak french except bill, who boasted that he said the language very well. for some time they had to be in camp, but they didn't need to speak any french. then the day came that they were allowed to leave for the weekend. hardly they left the camp when they saw the pretty girl on the other side of the road.and then they all asked bill to speak to her. bill walked cross the road, and smiled polite to the girl. he had only said a few words when the girl slapped her face angrily and walked off. surprisingly, with his face were all smiles, bill returned to his friends, saying, “well. i told you i could speak french, don't i？”
