china's drug watchdog has suspended the sales and consumption of 13 commonly used capsule drugs.
the move came after media reports and laboratory examinations confirmed the capsules were made of industrial gelatin, which contained excessively high degrees of chromium.
the heavy metal found in industrial gelatin was 20 to 90 times more than in edible gelatin.
