1. know the history of chinese acupuncture;

3. do a research on chinese medicine and report findings to the class.
teaching procedures:
step 1 lead-in
a small quiz on the knowledge of chinese acupuncture.
step 2 reading
1. scan the passage and find which topic is not mentioned.
2. read the passage again and finish two tasks.
(1) complete the diagram of the development of acupuncture.
(2) answer the following two questions:
what medical problems can acupuncture treat?
how does acupuncture reduce and relieve pain?
