1. with the development of science and technology, there are so many media to get news from. can you give us some examples?
2. suppose you work for an internet news website. your boss has asked you to attend a series of lectures about the ways people watch or listen to the news. you will need to write a report. now let’s learn some skills which help us to write the report.
step 2 skills building 1: reading charts
1. can you tell us some of the most popular types of the charts?
2. can you tell us the definition of them?
3. now look at the following charts and tell us which type each of them belongs to?
bar charts: used to show how something changes over time or compare items.
flow charts: used to show a process.
pie charts: used to show percentages.
step 3 skills building 2: forming more specific questions

1. start with information that you know and build on it.
2. do not just ask about what people like, prefer or choose to do. also ask what they do not like or do not prefer.
3. find out why. once you have the facts, you can try to find out why they are true. this kind of information will be helpful if you need to support or explain the fact
