step 1 lead-in:
get students to think about the following questions:
1.what’s our national flag like? can you describe it?
2.what do colors and the stars on the national flag of china symbolize?
step 2 reading
i. go through the reading strategy
before reading an article:
①read the headline and the first paragraph to get an idea of the theme or topic.
②think about the topic and what you already know.
ii. first reading:
get students to read the text. read the internet article and answer the following questions
1. what is the french national flag sometimes called?
the ‘tricolor ’ (tricolour)..
2. how many stars are there on the national flag of the usa?
fifty.
3. what colour is the indonesian flag?
red and white.
iii. second reading
get the students to read the internet article again and finish the exercises in part c1 and part c2.
