thoughts on the design:
welcome部分以说为主,是整个单元的导入和热身。大学以及大学所学专业是学生在此阶段最关心的话题。welcome部分提供的关于不同专业的图片极大地激发学生的兴趣,同时学生通过对图片的描述进一步阐述自己对大学以及专业的理解和憧憬,不仅提高了口头表达能力而且引导学生对自己的未来作深入的思考。
teaching aims:
after learning welcome to the unit, the students will be able to:
1. talk about some courses at university;
2. give themselves a serious consideration of their future;
3. improve oral english by expressing their own ideas.
teaching procedures:
step 1 lead in

1. have you ever thought of what you are going to do after you finish high school?
2. do you think everyone should go to university? why or why not?

1. describe the pictures in groups and list the five different courses on the blackboard.
courses: engineering, maths, literature, archaeology, science
2. show some pictures of famous people of different fields.

(1) which of the courses above would you like to study? why?
(2) what other courses do you want to major in?
